As part of a culture change programme, a large financial services business providing consumer finance committed to the process of improvement in customer service. The head office was serviced by Regional Offices throughout the UK. Regional Managers were requested to take the ideas on culture change from the centre of the business and install these in the Branch or Regional settings.
Shaping the Vision
Shaping the Vision was a very powerful tool for examining local demands and constraints upon each office. It helped to focus on those areas where the Regional staff thought they were at risk and allowed them to capitalise on their strengths in the local economy. This created a very firm business plan which was integrated into a ‘culture change within the regional network. Although the vision for the business overall was set at head office, Regional offices were able to adapt the tactics they employed to take account of local requirements of customers and the market. This enabled Regional office staff to adhere to the overall strategic thrust of the business whilst at the same time accommodating the local needs.
